This is a little about how the game will play...
Real-time action-strategy game.
30 action packed missions based on real life SWAT call-ups. \line\line Missions usually take 15-30 minutes. Play as either a SWAT commander or a terrorist leader. You can control up to 6 elements per mission (teams of five SWAT officers or a 2 man sniper team). The five man assault team consists of an element leader, a scout, a rear guard, and 2 assaulters. This type of element will be storming the building, arresting the terrorists, and rescuing hostages when needed. The sniper team consists of a shooter and an observer. You can pick from 100 officers to go in those elements each with a different height, weight, age, and salary. Every character in the game has a different aggressiveness, courage, cooperation, and intelligence which will make the game much more interesting. Officers are also ranked under marksmanship for Colt .45, MP-5, shotgun, and .308 sniper rifle and under Cross Training for rappelling, hand to hand combat, tear gas, dynamic entry, and first aid. They can also receive additional training as an element leader, sniper, explosives expert, EMT(medic), or a K9 handler. Training costs money and that individual will be gone for a while but when they return, the skills they were sent to improve will be much better and will raise their effectiveness in battle. Use the scenery to your advantage. You can hide behind a lamp post or take cover behind a car. Its your choice to begin negotiations or to begin shooting. Utilize sniper teams, the LAPD helicopter, the CNT(crisis negotiation team), or the SWAT tank.Money, public relations, and a failure to meet the terrorists demands can affect whether or not your team gets shut down. You can shoot anyone at any time with certain consequences for your actions. Because of the superb AI even if you play the same mission over and over again you will never have the same ending twice. This is because the terrorists may go berserk and start killing the hostages or the hostages may develop Stockholm syndrome in which they side with the terrorists and aid them in their quest to defeat the SWAT. As the terrorists, again you get to pick from 100 different people each with their own aggressiveness, courage, cooperation, and intelligence. The terrorists areas of expertise are hand to hand combat, booby traps, bombs, and grenades. Even though they are terrorists they cant go around killing everyone either. You must make your organization look attractive to others to gain followers. There is multiplayer support over Sierra's free online gaming service, SIGS. You can play with up to 4 people as allies and try to defeat the computer in one of the 30 scenarios or go head to head on one of the 22 custom maps. There will be online hints provided by Police Chief Daryl Gates. There is a mission pack that is supposedly already in development.
Tips
Make sure your units are well positioned, have backup units in case your troops get hurt.
Always pay attention to the intro movies they contain key clues on better completion of missions.
Use the in-game documentation to your advantage when confused as to what to do next or when trying to use equipment.
When trying to figure out the best way to complete a mission after trying to unsuccessfully several times, use the strategy guide provided in the manual.
Prepare your units well before going into missions, ill equipped units are virtually useless for their given roles.
A proper combination of sniper/assault units works best depending on the mission, too many units can cause some missions to become to confusing.
Learn from playing both sides of the law on how to deal with the other side more effectively.SWAT motives and Terrorist motives are quite different.
